“At year’s end, Japanese flank the entrances of their homes and shops with pairs of kadomatsu – arrangements of bamboo and pine boughs – to welcome ancestral spirits and to assure themselves of prosperity in the New Year.
At 1:00 pm on December 12, Yume Executive Director Patricia Deridder will demonstrate how to make these traditional “gate pine” decorations. Attendance is free with regular Gardens admission, and no reservation is needed.”
